This is a simple Web page that I have created for the purposes of providing access to my resume, samples of my technical writing work, and samples of my marketing work, as well as samples of my Web page development work. This page is nothing fancy, and should be considered a work in progress.

Executive Summary

My work experience consists of four tracks:

  1. More than 25 years of Technical Writing experience related to software applications, general office policies and procedures, and mechanical system operations and maintenance. This includes more than 20 years of Web experience involving the use, design, creation, implementation, publishing and maintenance of both Internet and Intranet sites.

  2. More than 12 years of Project Management and Program Management experience involving the formation, maintenance and settlement of plans, budgets, resource allocations, and expectations, as well as tracking progress, expenses, milestones and deadlines.

  3. More than 8 years of Business experience as an owner and operator of my own craft product manufacturing company involving direct interactions with clients, suppliers, business partners, and state agencies, as well as materials purchasing, product manufacturing, product testing and fulfillment.

  4. Nearly a year of Automotive Sales experience qualifying prospects via phone, email, and text, scheduling appointments, meeting with prospects, building rapport, assessing needs, recommending and demonstrating product, negotiating sales, processing purchase paperwork, delivering vehicle, orientating client, and providing long term support.

While most of my IT-related work has involved writing design specifications, user manuals, help systems, training materials, implementation guides and policy & procedure documents, I have also held a wide variety of roles including project manager, program manager, and marketing manager. I have also been heavily involved in strategic planning, product testing, release management and client implementation.

I believe that it is the combination of my four career paths, combined with my strong work ethic, outward personality, willingness to learn, and willingness to work with and help others, that make me uniquely qualified for a variety of positions in the Information Technology industry.

I am a U.S. Citizen and native English speaker. I have no agreements with former employers or clients that would restrict my acceptance of an offer for this or any other position. I have no disabilities, and no special arrangements would need to be made to accommodate my employment. I have a valid/clean Georgia Driver’s license. I have no criminal record. I hold a valid U.S. Passport and am not opposed to travel.

I do not have a college degree. I tried and I failed, but that was the last time I failed in the business world. Over the years, I have made attempts to formally expand my education, but the priorities of my employers have always come first. Every work experience I have had has been an education, and from each I have built a complete set of skills and developed a work ethic that has made me successful in every job I have attempted. And still, I am eager to learn more and set the bar even higher.

I am available at any time to discuss my resume and work experience. I thank you, in advance, for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing back from you at your earliest possible convenience.

Objective

I am currently seeking a full-time permanent, contract-to-hire (W2) or contract position (W2) in the IT sector on a team focusing on software application development (client or Web-based):

Healtheon/WebMD Intranet Site

Opens in a new tab or window, depending on your browser settings. Most links to individual documents or pages have disabled, with only those related to the site or technical communications still enabled. Some links do not work because the target is either no longer available. The purpose is to show structure and organization.

This is an Intranet site that I created as an "extra" project for Healtheon/WebMD. The primary purpose of this site was to provide a bridge between the various offices that I become part of the company through mergers and acquisitions. I originally started the site after Healtheon of Santa Clara, CA acquired ActaMed of Atlanta, GA, where I was working. The goal was to show the Santa Clara the work that was being done in Atlanta, as well as provide a way of introducing the two teams to one another. Addition offices were added through acquisitions, and then the whole site was reworked when WebMD and Healtheon merged.

Much of the information on the site focused on the Software Development Life Cycle of the Atlanta office, as well as the knowledge transfer processes between product management and all downstream teams. A large portion of the site showed off the work of the Technical Communication Group (TCG), of which I was the lead in Atlanta. This pool of information included samples of projects, templates (with instructions), and procedures for creating the various documents used in the development, testing and release processes. There were also many links to resources in the Santa Clara office, so that people in Atlanta could begin learning new systems that would ultimately take priority.

I created the site using a simple text editor: Windows Notepad. Much of the graphics were created using MS Visio, Paintbrush, and a variety of image capture programs. Much of the source text was originally authored in MS Word, and then converted to HTML or Adobe. Additional HTML and JavaScript code was added to make the site fully functional. It was originally designed for use on Netscape Navigator and early versions of MS Internet Explorer. It has never been thoroughly tested on any other browsers.

The TCG Info Project was originally authored in MS Word 97, and then converted to HTML Help using Doc-To-Help 4.0. This project contains a detailed guide for writing and generating documentation and help systems using this method.

The version of the site I have uploaded contains no proprietary information, and installation files have been removed. Where possible, I have disabled any links that would no longer work, but there still may be some that are missing.

The primary reason for posting this sample of my work, is to show that I am capable of creating and maintaining complex Websites, both Internet and Intranet. This site required almost daily maintenance due to the large amount of information moving through the development center, and the large number of projects that were in various stages of completion.

The site was eventually abandoned prior to my departure from the company, in lieu of a similar project developed by WebMD using the a developer's version of SharePoint. I converted much of the information from this Intranet site into usable artifacts that were then added to the SharePoint project.

Practice Manager Group Release Site

Opens in a new tab or window, depending on your browser settings. Some links do not work because the target is either no longer available. The purpose is to show structure and organization.

This is an Intranet site that I created as an "extra" project for Practice Manager Group. It served as the source for information regarding product releases, tracking them through all stages: planning, development, testing, Beta release and final release. The main purpose of this site was to provide a bridge between the development center located in Kaunas, Lithuania and the main office located in Denver, Colorado. The site was used by all persons in the company, and became the "go to" source for product information.

In addition to product information, the site also served as a gateway between the two offices, introducing the personnel of each office to the other, as well as exploring the diversity of culture and tradition that existed between the two.

It was originally designed for use on MS Internet Explorer. It has never been thoroughly tested on any other browsers.

The site was eventually abandoned after my departure from the company, as no one wanted to take on the responsibility of maintaining the site.
